Another neat way of Upselling, after the initial sale is done, is a script I found that shows a special offer to the customer, immediately prior to the CC purchase. (Search for "Risk Free Upsell", if you are interested.) It's great because it doesn't potentially jeopardize the primary sale with an upsell.

Some of it is over my head, but thanks for the great info.

Dan's perspective that analyzing email campaigns and resulting web site visit patterns as a whole is rare is truly an understatement.

Its tough to create good email campaigns.

Its tough to build a good web site with rich, deep content.

Its tough to build analytical tools to track either.

Most companies, large and small have trouble with at least one or two of these challenges.

I think its best to try to create a comprehensive campaign and measurement plan for a well contained, limited time frame campaign. Learn some lessons. Then take what you learn and apply it to more of your campaigns.

Great advice! We've been doing this for about a year and it works like a charm.

The Analytics reporting allows us to view traffic holistically - search and email in one view.

Great advice! These are effective options. Anyone can choose one that fits their level of sofistication.

This is an excellent post. I have just written an analysis of eWeek & Ziff-Davis's horrible unsubscription process. I would love your comments on my post. http://www.1GoodReason.com/blog.

I'm going to add a link to this article to my post now.

Thanks,
